Uruguay to Host FIA Rally Star American and Women's Finals

FIA Rally Star has confirmed that the Rally Star American and Women’s Finals will take place in Uruguay from April 30 to May 3 at the Polideportivo Motor Maldonado. After being postponed in February due to social unrest in Peru, excitement continues to build for this highly anticipated event. Here at WIMCanada, we are on the edge of our seats looking forward to such a pivotal event for so many women in motorsport. The FIA Rally Star Women’s Final is a significant part of the event, and the best-performing female driver in the FIA Rally Star American Final will also qualify for this exciting final. The winners of both the FIA Rally Star American and Women's Finals will secure their places in the FIA Rally Star Training Season, where they will have the chance to compete in six rallies in a Ford Fiesta Rally3 run by M-Sport Poland.

The FIA Rally Star Training Season is a groundbreaking initiative, and it offers an excellent opportunity for women to make a name for themselves in motorsport. The best four drivers will win an FIA Junior WRC Championship campaign in 2024, which is the first step on the ladder to the top-level, hybrid-based Rally1 category. This exciting initiative has already attracted some top-performing female drivers, including Maja Hallén Fellenius from Sweden, Katie Milner from the United Kingdom, Farah Zakaria from Jordan, Kristie Ellis from South Africa, and Pragathi Gowda from India.

In terms of Canadian representation, we are proud to be represented by three drivers - including one woman; Erika Hoffman. Additionally, WIMCanada has identified female driver Naila Deen as a runner up participant in the event that Erika is unable to attend. Overall, the FIA Rally Star American and Women’s Finals and the FIA Rally Star Training Season are fantastic opportunities for women in motorsport to showcase their skills and potentially take the next step in their careers. Continued focus on promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry is crucial, and initiatives like these will go a long way towards encouraging more women to get involved in motorsport. The entire industry is eagerly anticipating the FIA Rally Star American and Women’s Finals and what the future holds for these talented female drivers!
